Praiseworthy (or not...)

Writer: Jake LawrenceJake Lawrence

Whenever your attitude is that you want to know what really is, only as long as it is what you like, you set yourself up for trouble.

-Charles Tart

To accept praise when you know it. is not necessary, or valid, is to distort your self-perception. One must be critically self-aware to progress in a society of low-achievers. Only you will know the truth about your ability, effort, and execution. Only you will know whether you are honest or not. You deceive another while deceiving yourself. This must end.

Moment to moment. Engage fully until the moment ends. Repeat. You will change yourself to your core. The things you do for societal reasons (diet, image, work, status, etc.) will begin to fade.

Caution. Unless you both see and feel change you are merely going through the motions. The mind must understand the outcome. There must be a vision. The route is navigated by visceral effort, from moment to moment.

We swallow greedily any lie that flatters us, but we sip only little by little at a truth we find bitter.

-Denis Diderot
